First, this is a new build so there is nothing to transfer.
Second, I've never had to transfer any other files.

Were you under the impression this was a site that had already been developed? If a child template was created for a site already built, or with a lot already developed, then I could see the need to move the related parts to the child.

When I create a child template it's before anything has been created / developed. I've never moved anything from the parent and have quite a few completed projects that work perfectly.

Does that add some clarity?
